Kent Shinomae started dancing at 10 years old at the Diamond Head Theatre in Honolulu, Hawaii. He first started in jazz, and then slowly expanded out towards other styles of dance, like ballet, contemporary, modern, ballroom, and hip-hop. He went to high school at Mid-Pacific Institute and graduated with a Mid-Pacific School of the Arts Certificate in Dance. Kent is also a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Theatre. During his time in college, Kent was also able to study at the London Contemporary Dance School. He has taught hip-hop and jazz at several studios in Honolulu, such as Honolulu Dance Studio, Boogie Down Productions Hawaii, and X-Static Dance Studio. Kent has won awards from prestigious dance competitions for his choreography in World of Dance, JUMP Dance Convention, and Spotlight Dance Cup. Kent has also traveled to Japan (BeaStar, Imai's Dance Studio) and London (Studio 68) to teach workshops. Most recently, he appeared on Nickelodean's "A Fairly Odd Summer" as a stunt dance performer. Kent is also an avid magician and has created dance choreography that links magic and dance to produce a truly spectacular blend of the two art forms. He was invited to perform his magic and dance choreography in the 2015 Asia Pacific Dance Festival and World Dance Alliance-Americas Conference. Kent is the Director of Studio K Beats.
